Ram 1500 EcoDiesel: Impressive Fuel Economy and Luxury Design
You already know from a previous review that we think the Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn is beautiful and capable of hauling as much as you need it to. But we haven't talked about the new EcoDiesel engine on the 2020 Ram 1500, and it adds remarkable benefits to this already-terrific vehicle.
Don't be afraid to buy a diesel truck; the fuel economy alone is stunning. In fact, you could drive from one end of Texas - say, Beaumont to El Paso - on one tank of gas. ONE TANK OF GAS. That's incredible. Who would have thought that a truck could do that?
We test drove one of the new Ram 1500 EcoDiesels just a few days ago, and we were impressed with the quiet cabin and refined interior of even the base model Tradesman, which starts at $36,890. As you work your way up through the trim levels, the luxury quotient ratchets up and so does the price.
Director of Product Marketing for Ram brands Mike Koval says that the interior is on par with a luxury brand, and there is no doubt the features are there for the optioning: 12-inch touchscreen displays, adjustable seats and heaters and ventilation, and an attention to detail not found in many other trucks.
At the same time, they offer truck-specific features like multi-function tailgate, off-road package, air suspension, trailer brake control, and the RamBox cargo system. Did you know the RamBox can hold up to 240 cans? That's a very cool tailgate waiting to happen.
